Charles Burrill Lines., great-grandfather of Katherine Jackson (donor of the collection, was the president of the Connecticut Kansas Colony also known as the Beecher Bible & Rifle Colony when they left Connecticut to emigrate to Kansas in March 1856 to establish an anti-slavery settlement in Kansas at Wabaunsee (then spelled "Waubonsa").
